Our projects range from high-speed powerboats and military vessels, low-drag motorboats, workboats, superyacht tenders, crew transfer vessels,  amphibious craft, sailing yachts and air cushioned vehicles.

We provide a broad spectrum of design and engineering expertise to the marine industry covering naval architecture, structural engineering, production engineering and consultation.  Blending creativity with solid technical know-how we turn ambitious ideas into seriously capable craft.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Design Engineer with experience in structural design/engineering who possess’s good attention to detail and a strong track record in this field.  In the role you will be responsible for the design, detailing and analysis of marine structures in addition to supporting other design tasks within the company, including class and production deliverables.  Experience in project management is not essential, but would be beneficial.  Working closely with multidisciplinary teams you will ensure technical integrity, safety and performance of projects across design, construction, and operation phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Global and local structural analysis including class scantling calculations using classification society rules and FEA tools.

  • Manage and deliver projects alongside day to day hands on work.

  • Design & Engineering:Develop, design and draught structural details of vessels in 2D and 3D CAD.

  • Compliance & Certification:Support on producing drawings to marine standards and certification.

  • Technical Documentation:Prepare design drawings, specifications, analysis reports, and technical documentation for internal review, class societies and client submissions.

  • Project Involvement:Engage in design reviews, meetings, and communication with clients and stakeholders.

  • Construction Support:Provide technical support during build, assembly, trials, and commissioning phases. Conduct inspections and resolve design-related issues.

  • Development Support: Support with the development of design proposals, future concepts, innovation and R+D.

  • Technical information: Produce clear and considered information and drawings for use by yards and class societies.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.

  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role.

  • A good understanding of aluminium and  composite materials and processes.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software - Rhino 3D or Similar.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and technical report writing ability.

  • Ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

  • Eligible to work in UK  and willing to travel occasionally if needed.

  • This is an office-based role with discretionary remote working. Due to our office location the candidate will need to have their own means of transport.

Desirable Skills (Optional but beneficial)

  • Hands on practical experience in a boat yard or similar.

  • Practical boating experience.

  • Hand Sketching
