Here’s what we do.
Concept Design
At FISH, concept design is where creativity meets engineering. Whether it's a hand-drawn sketch or a detailed photorealistic rendering, every concept we develop is rooted in real world feasibility. Our approach is flexible; the level of engineering detail evolves with your project’s needs. This might start with informed ballpark figures, backed by decades of marine design experience, or extend to CFD-optimised hull forms, ergonomic and aesthetic studies, and practical build strategies tailored to specific materials and yard capabilities. We always ensure our concepts aren’t just visionary - they’re viable.
From hull form through full vessel design to inclining experiments and commissioning, FISH offer the whole package. Our experience and grounding in Naval Architecture is the basis to everything we do, and we love nothing more than to see our designs go from initial sketch to 50kts. Whether we are utilising our inhouse experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), model testing background, empirical calculations or back catalogue of designs, FISH are well versed in designing novel exciting vessels from first principles. Our experience derived from designing to a wide range of class societies, provides FISH with the knowledge to advise, evolve and provide commercially viable solutions. Whether it’s a one off or a series build, let us see how we can help make your project a success.
Naval Architecture
Whether glass, carbon, flax , PVC or PET structural engineering in composites is a diverse subject which is ever evolving. FISH’s extensive experience allows us to utilise these materials and develop vessels which are structurally efficient, whilst maintaining buildability and reducing build hours and hence cost. With extensive experience in the workshop, we always have production in mind. Whether it’s resin infusion, pre-preg or more traditional methods, every builder or product needs a tailored approach to ensure the optimum solution. Our diverse range of vessels is proof of our ability and the key to your projects success.

Production Engineering
Build process optimisation, tooling schemes, 3D systems routing, all these things strive for the same common goals – stop rework, minimise wastage and crucially reduce workshop hours. Our primary job as designers is to communicate clearly with the workshop to allow the builder to carry out their jobs efficiently. The workshop is our real customer, something that is often forgotten. All FISH projects have a production engineering focus approach at day one, based on workshop experience within the team. We believe in a strong design led approach to production engineering and the ethos that it is almost always more efficient to solve an issue at the design phase. We consider production engineering to be one of the most important parts of the design process and a key contributor to project efficiency.
