FISH – Marine Design | Composites is a small dynamic consultancy with an impressive wide-ranging portfolio. Previous projects include high-speed power craft, MOD vessels, low drag displacement motorboats, electric hydrofoils and sailing yachts. We provide a broad spectrum of design and engineering expertise to the marine industry including; vessel design from concept, naval architecture, structural engineering, production engineering and testing.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Naval Architect/Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The role would suit a recent graduate or someone with up to approximately two years industry experience who is interested in developing their knowledge post study. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, analysis, and development of marine vessels and structures.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in producing and draughting clear design information for build using 2D and 3D modelling software (Rhino).
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including marine engineers, designers, and project managers.
Help with the preparation of technical documentation and reports.
Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and site visits when necessary.
Assist with the creation of new design proposals.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (BEng) or Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
Good understanding of vessel design principles and operations.
Familiarity with Rhino 3D software or similar program.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Eligible to work in UK and willing to travel occasionally if needed.
This is an office-based role with some remote working. Due to our office location the candidate will need to have their own means of transport.
Desirable Skills (Optional but Beneficial)
Knowledge or experience of composite boat structures.
Hands on practical experience in a boat yard.
Familiarity with classification society rule sets.
3D Rendering .
Practical boating experience.
